GROW is currently looking for a Piling Site Manager to be placed for one of our clients in the construction / civil engineering industry for deployment to Nigeria.
 
Job Summary
The Piling Site Manager is responsible for the on-site supervision and coordination of piling, ground improvement, and marine works. The role is primarily field-based and focuses on managing daily construction activities, coordinating with the Consultant on site, supervising contractors, and ensuring that works are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with approved drawings and project requirements.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is an advantage; strong, proven field experience in marine and ground engineering works is essential.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of hands-on experience in piling, ground improvement, and marine construction works, including supervision of bored piles, PVDs, DSM, jet grouting, sheet piling, and related systems.
  • Solid understanding of piling methods, soil improvement techniques, marine equipment operations (barges, cranes, piling rigs), and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to enforce HSE standards, especially for marine and heavy lifting operations, and ensure quality control through inspections and proper documentation.
  • Fluent in English with strong capability to prepare detailed site reports, coordinate with Consultants, and effectively communicate construction progress, issues, and technical matters.
Key Responsibilities
 
Site Supervision & Field Operations
  • Work predominantly in the field to supervise piling, ground improvement, and marine construction activities, reporting directly to the Piling Division Manager.
  • Oversee daily site operations and ensure smooth execution of works across multiple work fronts.
  • Supervise contractors, subcontractors, plant operators, and site crews.
Consultant & Site Coordination
  • Coordinate directly with the Consultant’s site representatives for inspections, approvals, and daily work activities.
  • Ensure Consultant’s instructions and site comments are implemented correctly.

Ground Improvement & Piling Works:
  • Bored Piles
  • Perforated Vertical Drains (PVDs)
  • Dynamic Compaction and Soil Improvement
  • Deep Soil Mixing (DSM)
  • Jet Grouting
  • Sheet Piling
  • Tie Rod Anchors
  • Combi Wall Revetments
  • Interlocking Contiguous Tubular Steel Piles
Health, Safety & Quality
  • Enforce compliance with HSE requirements, especially for marine and heavy lifting operations.
  • Ensure safe operation of piling rigs, marine plant, barges, cranes, and grouting equipment.
  • Monitor workmanship and quality of executed works.
  • Coordinate inspections and testing with the Consultant.
Planning & Monitoring
  • Coordinate daily site activities and resources with contractors.
  • Monitor productivity, progress, and site constraints.
  • Identify construction issues and report them to project management.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
  • Maintain accurate site records of manpower, equipment, work quantities, and activities.
Education
  • Practical site experience is essential. A Civil Engineering degree is an advantage.
Language Skills
  • Fluent in reading and writing English; able to prepare clear site reports and communicate effectively with the Consultant and project team.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong field supervision and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple contractors and marine construction activities.
  • Strong safety awareness and problem-solving skills.
Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to spend most of the working time on site and in the field.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding project schedules.
